Be descriptive with your auctions and earn more!
If you've ever browsed through online auctions you might notice that many times the same item will vary greatly in final price. There are many factors that can cause this but one of the most important ones is the item description and pictures.
Let's take for example an auction for a computer. Here are two different descriptions to give you an example of what I am talking about.
Auction Description Example One
A used computer for sale with mouse and keyboard. This auction also includes the monitor and some speakers. The computer is in good shape and is only about 3 years old. Starting bid will be $100.
Auction Description Example Two
Up for auction is a Pentium 3 computer. The computer has a 900 mega hertz processor, 20 gig hard drive and 512 meg of RAM. The computer includes keyboard, mouse, and sound blaster speakers. Also included is a 17" monitor. The starting bid will be $100.
As you can see, anyone wanting to purchase a computer would be much more comfortable buying the second computer. The computers could be exactly the same but there are mnay questions left unanswered in the first description.
When listing your items be as descriptive as possible. Try to answer any questions that you might have yourself about the product. Be an expert on the subject and don't hide anything from the buyer. Selling something with hidden problems could get you negative feedback from the buyer at the end of the auction hurting you much worse than the few dollars you would loose from the auction.
