Cheap Furniture

Buying furniture from online auctions and wholesale warehouses can be very fun and save you hundreds of dollars. However, beware of what you are buying and do some research before you make the final purchase. There are hundreds of online auction sites and warehouses that offer cheap discounts on furniture and home furnishings but not all of them are as honest as you might think. As with any other online purchase there are always pros and cons to making these types of purchases. This articles is to educate you on the the pros and cons of purchasing cheap but quality furniture online.

The most important step when looking to purchase cheap furniture is to know exactly what you are bidding on before you place the first bid. You need to read all the fine print to make sure you are getting authentic furniture that is in the condition you are wanting. If you are wanting to purchase new furniture make sure the furniture you are bidding on is in fact in new condition. If you are wanting real wood make sure it's 100% real wood or even the paticular type of wood you are looking for.

Next, make sure the furniture you are looking at online is the exact furniture you really want. Since most online purchases are made without actually seeing the real items you need to carfully check dimensions. Make sure this paticular couch will fit in your living room. Make sure the 60" plasma television will actually look right in your 10' x 10' bedroom. Is a dining room table going to fit in your dining room that already has a hutch, buffett, and curio cabinent?

Next, if you are buying used furniture make sure the picture you see on the internet is a picture of the actual product you are going to be bidding on. Many times when listing itmes for sale auction sellers will post a stock picture of the item instead of the actual item itself. They may be trying to hide scratches, dents or other imperfections that could be seen in an actual picture.

Don't be afraid to ask questions to the seller. If the person selling the item is honest they will not try to hide anything from you. If you ask a question about the product and they don't give you the answer you are looking for then you might want to think twice about bidding on the item. Also do some research on the seller and make sure there are no past problems with them. Many online auction websites will have a feedback system so you can read experiences from past buyers and sellers.

Always double check prices on furniture in retail stores to make sure the wholesale or auction website is not trying to sell the furniture for more than it could be purchased at a retail store. You might be able to get a better deal in your own neighborhood furniture store by paying cash for the items.

Don't forget to factor in shipping and handeling fees. Many times with online auction and wholesale furniture outlets they will have a lower reserve or starting price on furniture but charge outrageous shipping and handeling prices. Many online auctions are putting regulations on this but sellers still get away with it. Furniture is very heavy and can be expensive to ship far distances so always check the shipping prices before making the first bid!

Follow this simple checklist and do your homework and you can find some great deals with online auctions and wholesale outlets. Remember cheap furniture doesn't have to mean low quality!
